Compliant Experts started when a safety officer decided there had to be a better way to train his employees. He had to reach every employee each week, no matter which shift or site they were working at. Additionally, he wanted to reach everyone instantly with “on-demand” safety information and to have relevant training to keep his facility in compliance. Also on his “wishlist” was the ability for employees to engage through reporting their safety actions. He took this wishlist to his best friend, a technology expert, and Compliant Experts was born.
Together, they built a platform that took safety off the paper and onto every employee’s mobile device. As the idea developed, they saw immediate and dramatic improvements as employees began engaging and taking their safety personally.
After the first quarter, there was a marked drop in OSHA recordable incidents. At the end of the first year, training saturation had risen to 98% company wide and OSHA recordables had shrunk to 52%, while workers’ compensation claims were down 58% from the previous year. Serious accidents had become nearly non-existent. Morale was up and the dreaded “experience modifier” for the company’s workers’ compensation insurance was finally trending downward.
The safety officer began bragging to other safety officers about how effective his training initiative had become. It was then that the technology expert and the safety officer realized there was a bigger market for this safety innovation. They took this foundation and formed the B-SAFE app.
